For a high volume book distributor, developed and executed a plan to identify the throughput capacity of an existing tilt-tray order sortation system with a rated capacity of 12,000 books per hour. Testing criteria consisted of order accuracy measures such operator error, barcode recognition and scanning, tray mechanics, divert mechanics, product compatibility (weight, dimensions, surface characteristics) and pick-to-light functionality.
For a manufacturer of power tools, designed the material handling system for a new manufacturing facility in Hermosillo, Mexico. Developed a hybrid methodology for the feeding of parts to the assembly lines. Designed point of use storage methods for each line. Defined a strategy for the direct shipment of raw materials to the plant in Mexico to reduce inventory carrying costs and streamline the flow of bulky parts to the manufacturing lines.
