For a third party mail order distributor, developed a concept design for a new fulfillment center. Performed analysis to determine the appropriate levels of packaging automation based on lot size. Defined new methods for picking single line as well as multi-line orders. Developed functional requirements for a new warehouse management system and assisted the client in the vendor selection process. Performed gap analysis and identified modifications required to WMS to support fulfillment operation. New processes and layout will allow client to ship an average of 60,000 orders per shift with a peak of 150,000.
For a distributor of videos, books and tapes, designed a new fulfillment center to support thirty percent annual growth in sales over the planning horizon. Project included developing a warehouse management system bid specification, proposal solicitation and vendor selection. Re-engineered processes resulted in the client building a facility that is 44,000 square feet smaller than the building originally planned. This resulted in an estimated savings of $1.2M.
For a mail order and e-commerce distributor, designed and managed start-up of a new order fulfillment center. Designed and developed functional bid specifications for all storage and material handling equipment. Managed development and execution of the facility relocation plan. Provided oversight and represented client during installation of all material handling equipment and software modifications. Developed and executed a system acceptance test plan for all new systems.
